My Perfume Collection

So I have been meaning to do this post for quite some time.  Here is the Midwest we have started to have a few days of warmer temps (yes, I know it’s only February!!) and I realized that I don’t have any lighter scents in my collection for Spring.  I was looking online at what new scents have come out and then it dawned on me that I still needed to share my favorties with you so let’s get to it…

Ok, so I realized that I have a lot of fragrances with the same notes! Ok, here’s the breakdown.temporary.jpg
Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent is described as an addictive, floral and energetic scent and I couldn’t agree more! This has notes of coffee accord, orange blossom and cedar wood and in my opinion has a slight black licorice scent too (which I love).

temporary
Fresh Cream by Philosophy is a great fresh everyday scent that has hints of vanilla. It is described as a sweet & delightful scent and isn’t too sweet. It reminds me of vanilla ice cream and sugary waffle cones mixed together…yum!

Alien by Mugler is hands down my top favorite scent ever! I remember when I smelled this for the first time…instant love. This is my go to date night scent. It has notes of cashmeran wood, amber gris and is described as a warm floral. I don’t usually tend to like floral scents and in my opinion there is no floral notes to this scent. One word that describes this scent is SEXY! Love it, love it, love it!

temporary
Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf is a musky (musky in a good way!) scent with notes of jasmine, orchid, ballerina freesia and is described as an oriental scent. I think this is the perfect winter scent. It wears really well on me and isn’t to heavy.

Hypnotic Poison by Dior is my most recent fragrance that I purchased and smells awesome! It has notes of bitter almond, jasmine, vanilla musk, cinnamon and tuberose and is described as a hypnotizing and extravagant fragrance which is so true. The bitter almond brings out the sweetness in this fragrance, but I think the cinnamon helps to make sure it isn’t too sweet.

So these are the fragrances that I have. I didn’t realize until now that most of my fragarances have common scent notes!  Any suggestions for a lightner, spring/summer frangrance?  If so leave it in the comments so I can check it out.

Have a great day.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Review

I have used the same cleanser for years, but a few months ago I noticed the places I use to get it from didn’t have it anymore and so I had to start going online to order it. (When that starts happening to things I use I always think that it might be discontinued soon).  I started researching different cleansers to see what my options were.  (I’m in my thirties, my skin which has always been oily is starting to become more combination and I break out VERY easily.)  One cleanser I kept hearing about was Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched it presented on QVC or read about it one blogs and magazines, but I was always worried that since it was an “all in one” cleanser that was for all skin types that I would break out from it  or it would cause my skin to become even more oily.  I tried using another brand of cleanser that was a gel and it dried my skin out (seriously first time this has ever happened to my skin!) so I decided to go ahead and give Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple a try.  My skin will react very quickly to products irritate it, but to be fair waited 3 weeks to even write this review and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this cleanser!  I wish I wouldn’t have waited so long to give it a try.  It is so nice not to have to use a separate makeup remover before cleansing my face…the stuff seriously removes my mascara and long wearing eye liner without the slightest burn to my eyes.  My face feels clean and soft after I use it and I have had no breakouts either.  I’m so happy with this cleanser from Philosophy that I’m going to try some of their the skincare products too!  If you have something from Philosophy that you like I’d love for you to share it with me.

My Friday Favorites!

Here are a few of the things I’ve been loving lately…

This candle smells SO good.  If you like the smell of apple you MUST try this candle!!  It has notes of apple, pear blossom & oak and it is wonderful.

I have been using this a lot over the summer.  It is a light, fresh, yummy vanilla scent that has a slight waffle cone note too.  It smells heavenly, but not too sweet.

This lip gloss is the perfect combination of gloss and color.  It’s from Tarte’s “skintuitive” line (their formula that responds to lips’ natural energy by using pH to deliver an exclusive berry shade that’s all your own).  It isn’t long wearing, but I like the high shine and the applicator is really easy to use

This picture doesn’t do it any justice…it’s kind of hourglass shaped and shapes to the lips perfectly!

So there you have it, a few of my favorites for the week.  I’d love to hear what you’ve been liking this week.  Have a great weekend:)

My new “go to” night-time moisturizer

I ran out of my usual night-time moisturizer a few months ago and decided to try something new. I sometimes wonder why I switch my skin care routine up when it seems to be working fine and isn’t breaking me out, but I think I’m always on the hunt for something that will make my skin look and feel even better (do you do that too?). Anyway, I was looking for an oil free, lightweight moisturizer to use at night and came across Philosophy Take a Deep Breath. It is oil free (check) and lightweight (check).  An added bonus it that it wasn’t horribly overpriced ($35.00 for 2 oz, but it doesn’t take much so I can see this lasting awhile).  According to Philosophy’s website they say :

“helps diffuse energizing oxygen for glowing skin
blend of antioxidants helps protect skin against environmental attack
provides oil-free, lightweight hydration”

After reading a lot of reviews that were all positive I decided to give it a try. I’m very happy that I did because I really love it. It’s has a very lightweight, whipped texture that feels really nice on my skin and it’s oil free (which my oily skin appreciates). It sinks into my skin right away and doesn’t make my skin feel oily or shiny.  I have been using this nightly for about 2 months now and it hasn’t caused my skin to break out and isn’t full of fragrance.

I bought this to use at night, but have noticed I’ve been reaching for it in the morning too. There is no SPF in this moisturizer, but I did notice their website has a version with SPF 30 that comes in a squeezable tube. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s definitely something I can see myself purchasing in the future. Have you tried this moisturizer? If so I’d love to know what you think of it.
Have a great day!
