My Monday Mani

Essie Viva Antigua

Okay let me start by saying that green nail polish isn’t something that I usually wear, but I thought it was a fun color so I went for it! I like that it has a shimmery look to it so it doesn’t seem so harsh, and like every Essie nail polish it applies evenly and easily! So this isn’t a shade I would probably wear on my fingers on a regular basis I thought it was a fun “pop” of color that I’ve never tried so I decide to go for it! (I will say that I think I like it better on my toes vs my fingers.)

On a positive note, my daughters both absolutely LOVED it so I know this shade will not go to waste:)

Have a great day!

Monday Mani

Sorry for the lack of posts these past few weeks.  I went to Chicago with some friends last weekend and then my kiddos were on Spring Break, but now I’m back:)

Today was such a pretty, sunny day that I decided to go with a pretty pink that screamed “SPRING” to me.

Essie “flowerista”

This shade is one from Essie’s new Spring 2015 collection that I picked up today from Target.  I couldn’t wait to get home to put this pretty pinkish purple color on and then I topped it off with my new favorite top coat.

Actually it’s more than just a top coat, its a base coat, top coat and nail strengthener in one…genius!

Happy Monday!

Mani Monday!

Here are my freshly manicured nails for this cold Monday morning here in the Midwest!

Essie Topless & Barefoot

Today’s manicure (Essie Topless & Barefoot) is a great milky beige shade that adds a hint of color to my nails.  I applied 2 coats (I put it in on my toes too!) and I really think it’s a nice change from the darker colors I seem to wear a lot; especially during the fall and winter.

What color are you wearing on your nails this week?   I’d love to know!  Have a great day.

Mani Monday!

Happy Monday to you all.  I hope you had a great weekend and your Monday is off to a good start!  I went with a classic red nail for my mani this week.  It seems like forever since I’ve done a color like this so it was a nice change for me.  When I went into my nail polish container I think I seriously pulled out 6 reds that look almost identical (oops!).  Anyway, back to my nails…I’m wearing 2 coats of Essie “Forever Young” with Julep “Freedom Polymer Top Coat” on top.

There is something I really love about wearing a simple classic red nail polish and every time I put it on I feel really pulled together and classic looking! I’m ready for my week (my red fingers are crossed that I can stay chip free at least until Thursday)!

Have a great Monday.

Mani of the day!

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve done a “mani” post, but my poor nail STILL are not  the best shape! I’ve not been giving them any TLC lately and boy is it showing. I was at Target yesterday and saw this pretty color from Essie (jiggie hi, jiggie low) and had to have it!

Yes, I know my cuticles look horrid, but I’m going to really try to be better about keeping polish on them so I can hopefully start to strengthen them and then I can get back to my “Mani Monday” posts.
Here is where I need your help…if you have any suggestions for nail strengthener and/or cuticle care items that have worked for you I would really appreciate your suggestions!!
Have a great Wednesday.

I have a love/hate relationship with my nails!

I sometimes get really annoyed with my nails.  In order for them to be in good condition they require A LOT of work…can’t stand it!  Since my girls summer vacation started I admit I haven’t taken the best care  of my nails.  I haven’t been using cuticle oil as much as I should be (my cuticles get really bad if I don’t condition them) and I haven’t used nail strengthener as often either.  The result is my nails have split on the sides, my nails have broken and my cuticles are horrible.  Because of all this I also have been picking on my cuticles and that has made my hands look even worse (yuck)!  Today I gave them some much-needed TLC.  I used True Blue Spa 60 Second Manicure Hand Scrub with Sugar-Just A Minute.  I got it at Bath & Body Works and it smells really good!

Next I used CND Solar Oil on my cuticles to help them stay conditioned and also softens them so I can push them back with a cuticle stick.  Also, this stuff last so, so long!Solar Oil

Lastly I put on Essie Grow Strong Base Coat.  It has a slight milky nude pink tint to it so it looks like a have something on my nails even if I don’t have any nail color over it.

Now my nail are ready for color.  Since my nails aren’t looking exceptional right now I decided to leave them like this, but if I wanted to add color over it my nails would be ready to go!  What is your favorite nail product to use?  I would love to hear about it.

Have a great day!

Nail Care

I’m not one of those people who is gifted with strong, beautiful long nails.  Over many, many years I have tired a lot of products that claimed to help strengthen and grow your nails long.  Well, I have had a lot of products that were epic fails for me.  A few nail strengthening products actually seemed to work well, but then they would start to get thick and stringy when I would put them on my nails.  A few months ago I was at Target (I believe it was $8.50) and came across Essie “Grow Stronger” Base Coat.  The packaging says:

“get a fresh start. add strength, durability and superior protection against chipping. this fast drying, glossy finish formula helps put an end to breakage. DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde free

I have been using this as my base coat for a few moths now and have noticed my nails have gotten stronger.  Another thing I like is that I can apply this by itself and it gives a hint of nude color to my nails…perfect for those days I just don’t have time to do a mani, but want a hint of glossy color.  Another bonus is that it’s fast drying so I can get out the door fast!
