My Perfume Collection

So I have been meaning to do this post for quite some time.  Here is the Midwest we have started to have a few days of warmer temps (yes, I know it’s only February!!) and I realized that I don’t have any lighter scents in my collection for Spring.  I was looking online at what new scents have come out and then it dawned on me that I still needed to share my favorties with you so let’s get to it…

Ok, so I realized that I have a lot of fragrances with the same notes! Ok, here’s the breakdown.temporary.jpg
Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent is described as an addictive, floral and energetic scent and I couldn’t agree more! This has notes of coffee accord, orange blossom and cedar wood and in my opinion has a slight black licorice scent too (which I love).

Fresh Cream by Philosophy is a great fresh everyday scent that has hints of vanilla. It is described as a sweet & delightful scent and isn’t too sweet. It reminds me of vanilla ice cream and sugary waffle cones mixed together…yum!

Alien by Mugler is hands down my top favorite scent ever! I remember when I smelled this for the first time…instant love. This is my go to date night scent. It has notes of cashmeran wood, amber gris and is described as a warm floral. I don’t usually tend to like floral scents and in my opinion there is no floral notes to this scent. One word that describes this scent is SEXY! Love it, love it, love it!

temporary
Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf is a musky (musky in a good way!) scent with notes of jasmine, orchid, ballerina freesia and is described as an oriental scent. I think this is the perfect winter scent. It wears really well on me and isn’t to heavy.

Hypnotic Poison by Dior is my most recent fragrance that I purchased and smells awesome! It has notes of bitter almond, jasmine, vanilla musk, cinnamon and tuberose and is described as a hypnotizing and extravagant fragrance which is so true. The bitter almond brings out the sweetness in this fragrance, but I think the cinnamon helps to make sure it isn’t too sweet.

So these are the fragrances that I have. I didn’t realize until now that most of my fragarances have common scent notes!  Any suggestions for a lightner, spring/summer frangrance?  If so leave it in the comments so I can check it out.

Have a great day.

Makeup Primer…take it or leave it?

There is so much talk about primers these days.   Face primer, eye primer and eye lash primer.  Do you use any (or all) of these?

First let’s talk about face primer.  I have oily skin that is prone to breakouts.  It’s hard to find a primer without silicones that works for my skin.  What I’m looking for in a primer is oil control.  I feel like I’ve tried them all and none of them work for me:(

Next is eye primer.  Too Faced Shadow Insurance is what I’ve been using and it does work really well at keeping my shadow from creasing.  I have fair skin and I have freckles on my eye lids so I would really like to find an eye primer that has a hint of color to cover the freckles on my eye lids.  For some reason a lot of the tinted eye shadow primers have shimmer/sparkle to them which is not what I’m looking for.  If you have any suggestions I’ll love to hear about it.  Until then I’ll stick with my Too Faced!

Lastly is eye lash primer.  Of all the primers I’ve written about above this is the one I see the best results from.  What I read on the package actually really happens when I apply it.  My absolute favorite is Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum by Dior I apply this to my lashes every day prior to mascara (after I curl my lashes of coarse) and it’s amazing how much it makes my lashes appear longer and thicker.  When I started doing research about this what caught my attention was that the website writes “it creates a smooth, even mascara base and promotes long-term lash growth, strength, and vitality”.  Yes please!  I have used Dior mascara with this in the past, but not always and I still get really good results.  In my opinion this is definitely worth using!

What kind of luck have you had with primers?  If you have one you absolutely love please let me know about it.

Have a great day!
