My Sephora wish list-January Edition

I was browsing on Sephora’s website the other day and since so many things caught my eye I thought I’d share a few of them with you.

I’ve never tried any of the Sephora brand lip products, but this nude shade is just SO pretty I couldn’t resist falling in love with it.

I bought the Two Faced Peach Sweet Peach Palette the other day (swatches coming soon!) and I wanted to get this too, but it was sold out by the time I got online.  The blush and bronzer shades in this palette look absolutely beautiful.

Sometimes when I look at sampler kits not everything really grabs my attention, but not with this one!  All 7 items in this kit I would really like to try…especially the Bobbi Brown Retouching Face Pencil in Illuminate!

This shade of pale pink is a color I’ve been looking for. I haven’t tried anything from Bite Beauty before, but the reviews seem pretty good so I’ll have to see what else they have to offer and they have a ton of shades too.

I have (and really like) a few makeup products from It Cosmetics, but I haven’t tried any of their skin care items yet. This eye cream helps with puffiness, brightening and fine lines…um YES please!!

Ok, so there are a few items that caught my attention at Sephora. What have you bought or wished for recently at Sephora?

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Review

I have used the same cleanser for years, but a few months ago I noticed the places I use to get it from didn’t have it anymore and so I had to start going online to order it. (When that starts happening to things I use I always think that it might be discontinued soon).  I started researching different cleansers to see what my options were.  (I’m in my thirties, my skin which has always been oily is starting to become more combination and I break out VERY easily.)  One cleanser I kept hearing about was Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched it presented on QVC or read about it one blogs and magazines, but I was always worried that since it was an “all in one” cleanser that was for all skin types that I would break out from it  or it would cause my skin to become even more oily.  I tried using another brand of cleanser that was a gel and it dried my skin out (seriously first time this has ever happened to my skin!) so I decided to go ahead and give Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple a try.  My skin will react very quickly to products irritate it, but to be fair waited 3 weeks to even write this review and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this cleanser!  I wish I wouldn’t have waited so long to give it a try.  It is so nice not to have to use a separate makeup remover before cleansing my face…the stuff seriously removes my mascara and long wearing eye liner without the slightest burn to my eyes.  My face feels clean and soft after I use it and I have had no breakouts either.  I’m so happy with this cleanser from Philosophy that I’m going to try some of their the skincare products too!  If you have something from Philosophy that you like I’d love for you to share it with me.

ChapStick® Hydration Lock Day & Night review

Good morning! Last month I was sent  ChapStick® Hydration Lock Day & Night lip balm from Smiley360 for free to try out*.  I admit it’s been YEARS since I’ve even looked at ChapStick brand lip balm at the store, but the dual ended skinny tube looked very interesting so I was excited to try it out.  So 1 end has a yellow cap for “day” and the other end has a blue cap for “night”.  The “day” end has an SPF in it and the “night” end feels creamier on the lips and contains Tamanu oil.  According to their website:

Dual-ended premium lip balm for clinically proven healthier looking lips

Day formula is ultra-conditioning with SPF to protect your lips by day

Night formula contains tamanu oil and natural butters to replenish your lips by nightSept2014 008

I have really enjoyed using this product. I like the way it makes my lips feel (soft and moisturized but not sticky). I think the night side has more of a light scent then the day side, but it’s not overwhelming or offensive. My daughters also saw it and thought it looked fun so I have bought one for each of them to use…so far they have remembered to use it without me even reminding them!  ChapStick has come out with other dual ended lip balms besides this one (the MixStix Lemon Berry Sorbet is the next one I want to try!).  Have your tried these yet?  If so let me know if you like them as much as I do.  There is a link below if your interested in getting a coupon for $.50 off to try it for yourself.

*This product was sent to me for fee to review, but please remember all thoughts are mine.

My new “go to” night-time moisturizer

I ran out of my usual night-time moisturizer a few months ago and decided to try something new. I sometimes wonder why I switch my skin care routine up when it seems to be working fine and isn’t breaking me out, but I think I’m always on the hunt for something that will make my skin look and feel even better (do you do that too?). Anyway, I was looking for an oil free, lightweight moisturizer to use at night and came across Philosophy Take a Deep Breath. It is oil free (check) and lightweight (check).  An added bonus it that it wasn’t horribly overpriced ($35.00 for 2 oz, but it doesn’t take much so I can see this lasting awhile).  According to Philosophy’s website they say :

“helps diffuse energizing oxygen for glowing skin
blend of antioxidants helps protect skin against environmental attack
provides oil-free, lightweight hydration”

After reading a lot of reviews that were all positive I decided to give it a try. I’m very happy that I did because I really love it. It’s has a very lightweight, whipped texture that feels really nice on my skin and it’s oil free (which my oily skin appreciates). It sinks into my skin right away and doesn’t make my skin feel oily or shiny.  I have been using this nightly for about 2 months now and it hasn’t caused my skin to break out and isn’t full of fragrance.

I bought this to use at night, but have noticed I’ve been reaching for it in the morning too. There is no SPF in this moisturizer, but I did notice their website has a version with SPF 30 that comes in a squeezable tube. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s definitely something I can see myself purchasing in the future. Have you tried this moisturizer? If so I’d love to know what you think of it.
Have a great day!
