Why do I have so many lip colors???

There are so to many choices when it comes to lip colors.  I think sometimes it’s downright overwhelming!  I’ve been on the hunt for a good red and pink color that looks good but haven’t had the best of luck finding anything that works for me.  Especially when it comes to red.  I have fair skin and any time I have tried to wear a red lip color it makes my skin look pink…not the look I’m going for!  (Gwen Stefani can pull it off so why can’t I!!!)  I think I’ve finally realized red lips will not work for me…sad, but true.  If you have fair skin and have a red that works for you I would LOVE to hear about it!

The next color I’ve searched for is a bright pink.  I have seen so many magazines with this beautiful bright (but not to bright) true pink.  I then remembered a lipstick I bought a few months ago that I thought might work.  I tried it on and it wasn’t what I was looking for.  Instead of being a true pink it had a rose tint to it so my search will continue for my “true” pink!

When I was searching through my drawer (yes, I know it’s crazy I have an entire drawer dedicated to just lip products…glosses, lipsticks, balms…you name it I’ve got it!!)  for the pink that I thought would work I realized I have a lot of colors that I haven’t even used and some I have only used once just sitting there.  So instead of buying any more I’m going to “shop” from my drawer and see what I like.  (It might be hard not to buy anything for my lips, but I’m up for the challenge.) If a color I try on doesn’t work I’m not going to put it back in the drawer…I will either pitch it or gift it!  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve put on lipstick and an hour later I see my reflection  in the mirror and really don’t like the color on me.  Instead of taking it out of my drawer I leave it there to collect dust and take up room.    I’ll be posting some pics of my “lips of the day” and those will be the colors that I think are keepers.  I’m excited to see what my drawer looks like at the end of this!  Today I’m showing you Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor in “Make Me Pink” 135.  I would describe this color as a neutral pink.  It doesn’t dry my lips out (bonus) and I think it works good with my skin tone.  Another thing I like about this color is that it is a great “go to” daytime color and would be great at night with a smoky eye!

  1. Pretty pink. As for the red, I do have a suggestion, being pale myself. What has worked for me is putting a lip liner under the lipstick in a color I know will be flattering to my skin (in my case, a sort of purple mauve) and put the lipstick on top. The lipstick still looks red, but the undertone is different, if that makes sense
